While there is no legal minimum age for a child to kayak, we do have the following rules:
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own kayak for our tours. The price is 1/2 that of a rental tour +$5. You will need to drop your gear off at the put-in point prior to meeting at the take-out point for our shuttle. This option is called BYOB and is listed as such if available for a tour.
No, we allow all experience levels to come along on our tours. Our river guides are either American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructors or ACA trained, CPR certified, and Wilderness First Aid certified. However, even though the rivers we lead tours on are class I rivers, that doesn't mean the tour won't be difficult. For instance, the Famous Ghost River tour is 9 miles long. 2 of the last three miles have very little canopy and no current. We also get to that part of the river around the hottest part of the day. It's entirely possible a beginner can experience extreme fatigue or succumb to dehydration or heat exhaustion. We just want everyone to enjoy their time on the water with us and want to come back for more!
At this time we do not. While we provide rentals as part of our tours we don't have an option for you to rent and go alone.
