ANDe is the owner of Blues City Kayaks and also serves as a river guide and instructor. An avid kayaker since 2013, ANDe is a certified American Canoe Association (ACA) instructor for the Level 1: Introduction to Kayaking and Level 2: Essentials of River Kayaking skills courses. ANDe is also an ACA Paddlesports Safety Facilitator for kayaking and one of only 15 ACA certified kayak fishing instructors in the world. He is also American Heart Association certified in CPR/BLS and is Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) certified in Wilderness First Aid. As a volunteer river guide with Wolf River Conservancy he has been trained in water rescue. As an active Scouts BSA Scoutmaster, he is trained in Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, and is approved by the Chickasaw Council of the Boy Scouts of America to teach Kayaking BSA and the Kayaking Merit Badge. ANDe is serving his second year on the board of directors for the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association (TSRA) as its Vice President.
ANDe's favorite kayak tour is the Urban Wolf River tour from Germantown Road to Walnut Grove Road in Memphis, TN.
Paul co-founded Blues City Kayaks with ANDe in 2019 and is also a river guide and certified ACA level 2 river kayaking instuctor. He has been an active kayaker for most of his life. A former leader in Scouts BSA, he has been trained in the BSA's Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat programs and teaches the Kayaking Merit Badge.
Paul's favorite kayak tour is the Lost Swamp section of the Wolf River.
Mandy has been kayaking for the past 10 seasons and has assisted Blues City Kayaks since 2021. This year Mandy earned her ACA Level 2 river kayaking instructor certification along with her ACA Paddlesports Safety Facilitator and Kayak Fishing endorsements. Along with being an ACA certified instructor, Mandy is a lifeguard, whitewater kayaker, member of the Wolf River Conservancy, and a member of the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association. In early 2023 she became a Tennessee Naturalist, which will enrich the information shared during our tours and is useful for leading programs at Pinecrest Camp and Retreat. Mandy enjoys most water sports including long distance open swimming, paddle boarding, and fishing…also camping in her toy hauler, riding trails or back roads on a street-legal dirt bike. If you are a supporter of the arts, you’ll see her working at Germantown Performing Arts Center, volunteering Overton Shell, Theatre Memphis, WYXR 91.7, Arrow Creative or attending a local show. Kinda like where’s Waldo but instead of the striped shirt, look for the purple round glasses!
Al Dyer is passionate about kayaking and is a great addition to the Blues City Kayaks guide team. To complement his over 30 years of paddling experience, Al is also Tactical Combat Casualty Care certified, CPR/BLS certified, and has 18 years of law enforcement experience with 7 years in search and rescue. He has also completed the American Canoe Association Level 2 Essentials of River Kayaking class.
Al's unique combination of skills and experience make him an ideal river guide. He is able to provide our guests with a safe and enjoyable experience while also teaching them about the basics of kayaking and river safety. Al is also a great resource for information about the local area and its many attractions.
